Extra Financial Help | |
 |
There is extra help for people with limited resource. | |
 |
|
The new Medicare benefit is big news for people with limited incomes. If you qualify, you can save a lot
more than the typical senior. In fact, if you are on a limited income, you may qualify for brand
prescription co-pays as low as $5! And if you have both Medicare and Medicaid, your prescription costs
will be even lower.
|
 |
There are different levels of assistance you can qualify for. They are based on your income, your assets
and if you have Medicaid as well as Medicare. As a general rule, however, you are eligible for extra help
if you are:*
- Single with a monthly income of less than $1,197 and assets under $10,000 or
- Married with a monthly income of less than $1,604 and assets under $20,000.

Assets typically include savings and investments, but not your house, burial plot or personal possessions.
